PRI is thrilled to announce that our work with the Columbia Law Review on a digital tribute honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been recognized as a People’s Voice Winner in the 26th Annual Webby Awards for the category Websites and Mobile Sites (Law). Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet.

We extend our gratitude to all who voted in the People’s Voice Awards for making this win possible. We are incredibly proud of this collaboration with the Columbia Law Review and grateful for the opportunity to honor the legacy of the late, great, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

About the Project

In early 2021 we at PRI were approached by our friends and partners at the Columbia Law Review, a nonprofit organization and world-renowned publication of legal scholarship, to assist in creating the digital version of a special volume of the Review — an in memoriam tribute to Justice Ginsburg.

It was our privilege to assist in preserving and sharing the Justice’s incredible legacy through this issue, which included contributions from Hillary Rodham Clinton, Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., ACLU Women’s Rights Project co-author Brenda Feigen, and many others. We were immediately inspired by the Review team’s vision for this project: a celebration of Justice Ginsburg’s life and legacy, conveyed through an interactive and multimedia reader experience.

Working hand-in-hand with the team at the Review, we worked to build an in memoriam page that married functionality with design in a seamless manner to create an immersive digital experience. We focused on creating a mobile-first storytelling experience that incorporated advanced animations, an intuitive user flow, and consistency across multiple devices. You can read more about the design process for the project here.

We are so proud of the hard work that our teams put in to make this one-of-a-kind tribute possible, and are overwhelmed by the public response. We hope that the project is seen as a testament to the lasting impact of an incredible life lived in service to the people of the United States, and we know that our success is only due to what the legacy of Justice Ginsburg means to us all. Thank you to our partners at Columbia Law Review for honoring us with the opportunity to provide this digital storytelling experience to the world. It’s the type of work that makes us proud to get up in the morning and do what we do.

We want to thank The Webby Awards once again for this recognition, and each member of the PRI team who contributed their skills and creativity to make it possible.
